Resistor on coil on ford wiring? Empty Resistor on coil on ford wiring?

I just need to run my van off and on a trailer for a few minutes, all factory wiring is disconnected, can I just put 12 volts to the coil or does it need to be going through a resistor?

    Thanks

You can run it on 12 volts for a few minutes it will heat up the coil and be hard on the points but shouldnt hurt anything
It should start on 12 volts everytime and then run on reduced voltage but a few minutes is fine
