This came to me in my email....

Hey guys, is there any catalogs or any stores that can help my dad and me to restore a 69 Chevy van?

Any parts that I might be able to share from a different year model, maybe parts from a car or truck…..? We just need help! Any kind of it would be great!! Thanks!

I think there ought to be a law that you need to post your location to join,,,,You might be right in the same area as another member. And it sure makes a difference on if a part is worth shipping.....or if someone knows where some parts are...... My Buddy jumped the fence at Pick a Part yesterday and he said there is a 2nd Gen and maybe 2 Dodges in the Bullpen,,,,,,

I agree Don. I think I'm going to change my location to Monkey's Eyebrow so no one can find me. Laughing

Chebby, is it possible to mod the display settings to make (Location) a mandatory setting? Just a thought. I know it helps to know where folks are when I am helping with issues.

I always email them with the link to the thread I copy their email on. I've had several folks join that way.

Hey, welcome to the site Master Yoda.

For the mechanical stuff in my Dodge, I love Rockauto.com. The online catalog is easy to use, the prices are very competitive, and what you pay in shipping is usually negated by the sales tax savings.

BTW - This grumpy old man is 45 and diggin' it, bad eyes and all.

    Welcome yoda,
With a "first" post like that I'm guessing your not here to make friends or get help.

Chebby got the question via email. Don't know who sent it and where they are. We "Early Vanner's" are a tight bunch and often get together with fellow vanner's who are close to us (Sometimes not so close) but it is all for the love of vanning and the preservation of these wonderful vintage vans. Location is important because of the sharing of parts knowledge and getting together to help each other. One of the first questions is always "Where are you?" and most often can connect you/them with one of our members in the same state or even city.

The fact that he/she emailed Chebby and didn't post implies they are not a member. The "Where are you located" has been an ongoing thing with newcomer's on the forums and thanks to this thread like many others the issue with a little help from Chebby is solved..

Like with all the van issues. All you have to do is ask on these forums and you shall get your question answered…….. Yoda, it's not about getting his butt handed to him. Just a lot of nice people eager to help.

    Welcome to Vintage-Vans.com

And I am going to check out a 69 Chevy Van at Pick a Part tomorrow,,,,,I figure that a person just starting out looking for parts could get a lot of parts off it if they are close enough,,,,,,and thats why a PERSONS LOCATION makes a big difference when you need parts. And there are others on the site that report any Vans that they find in the wrecking yard. The Vans only stay around for a few weeks before they get crushed so we ain't got time to chat,,,,,,you got to move fast or it's gone,,,,,,FOREVER,,,,,,,
