    Hello,

I've been in the market for a project vintage van for years.

Recently found a local 1968 Chevy.

It needs work but is drivable as is. Has 350 and 350 turbo trans with 5000 miles. Clean motor and sound great.

Also had 4x4 conversion but sellers stressed that the front end needs a rebuild. Front drive shaft is off now so it just drives in 2 wheel. Conversion looks good minus a couple ugly welds here and there.

Body is straight and dent free with small rust in front of rear wheel wells. Interior would be a complete restore but that's what I would want to do no matter.

I didn't get to drive it. It looks mean! Is $3000 a good deal or should I offer less?

I'll try to get some pics up soon. The seller also suggeted either a new front end or rebuild. The steering column was out of an old toranado is that common or had anyone seen that done? Tilt wheel and everything.

Don't never hurt to make a lower offer. At the worst all he will do is counter your offer or say no.

True, I don't plan on giving in without at least trying to haggle.

Just one word of caution rebuilding a 4x4 frontend will not be cheap. It would probaly be a good idea to get someone that knows 4x4s to look at it to make sure it is not a hack job to.
