    Camping gear. Empty Camping gear.

Post by Guest Mon Mar 26, 2012 12:08 pm

I've been rounding up period correct camping gear for a while now. Unfortunately, I picked this one up due to the death of a friend last May. He and his dad who passed away in the early '80's used this back in the '60's and '70's. The motor is a 1955 Evinrude "Ducktwin", it turns but I've not tried to start it. This vintage set-up looks right at home behind a vintage van.

He was a great sax player among other instruments. He was a blast to be around.

You need to find a pair of hub caps for the trailer, to match the van's now.

I've got some O.E.M. wheels off of a '67 Coronet and I have another set and a half of the hubcaps that are on the van. Been thinking about that myself. Smile JP

Do I see a matching paint job for the boat in the future? Probably too hard to paint aluminium, huh?
    Looks good.

If the wheels off the Coronet fit I'll paint them the same as the van. I was thinking of polishing the boat but now that you mention it painting it could be worth looking into.
Whats one more iron in the fire going to hurt? Smile

Cool little boat man!!! You should go to tractor supply & buy a set of fenders & paint them the same color as your van.

Yup... I'm liking this thread! That'll be an awesome rig! I'm sure it will all clean up nice! I'm pretty sure you can get an aluminum primer, but it look nicer to just buff it au naturel!

Yeah, I'm thinking a buff now too just for the ease. I can paint the wheels, trailer and fenders to match the van. I'm going to try to find some older looking tail lights too, maybe graft them into the fenders...

Thanks Corrosive, I am stoked about this set-up. The engine is all there and with some going through should be good as new.
    I can't wait.. Very Happy

Yes Dave, Funny you would ask. One of THEEE best times of my life was spent making a 780 mi trip last 2.5 days. I want to do it again.
