I've done this on unibody cars, not a van but they are probeble the same. Drill out the spot-welds that hold the floor pan to the frame rail with a spot weld drill bit. Then if you have to break the two panels you can use an old putty knife w/ a hammer to get separation. Wear Eye protection.

Yep pretty much how he said it. Mine was done with an old screw driver and an old chisel after i drilled the spot welds out with a spot weld cutter drill bit.

You can just see the main rails under the next set of floors sections i need to cut out. But the steering box area has a bigger flanged area then the main rails.

You will hate spot welds when all said and done though. Ask me how i know. Thats actually the main reason i have not done anymore to the floors.

    Cutting the Floor ..... 048-vi
Well Heres the Floor after we Pulled out the 351 C .. What my plan is for the floor Now is .. to Cut a Tunnel up front .. Now as for the Back .. After we get the 302 Back in the van .. and the trans and transfer case ... and see were it all lines up .. I want to cut the Floor Past the Rails in the Back ... to be able to fish Plate it for the cross member .. and cross brace it as well .. And I was thinking about Leaveing the Floor so it will bolt and unbolt .. so I will have access to the inside of the rails ... ?????

    If I understand you correctly.
Without welding the floor back in you will be loseing some integrity because the floor "boxes" the "U" shaped frame.
ASE calls for 30% more welds than it had when you took it apart.

Thats Good info ..thats what I am fishing for.... so I will not cut that Back of the Floor Past the rails .. I will cut the floor above them .. and Leave them open .. so you can still get to them .. Just Like the other van we did ...

This is a set of spot-weld bits. If your going to be doing a lot of drilling these spot welds, its worth getting a set.

Otherwise you can buy these by the each, they work good too.

This is a spot-weld "chizzel",their spelling not mine. It's hardened steel that you can hammer from the handle end or from the side to seperate the two formerly spot-welded pieces of steel.

This is another shot of the spot-weld bit in the first picture. The center pin is spring loaded so you can center on the weld. I still like to drill a pilot hole too.

When removing the floor in one of my trucks I cut the floor in pieces leaving little strips along the frame rails. Then I came back and drilled the spotwelds and removed the strips. It's a lot easier than trying to pull the whole floor in one piece. I did it this way to minimize the damage to the flanges on the frame.

Besides. When I get the floor out of the way I can use my favorite spot weld drill. It makes quick work out of them.
