    ? Wire Blow Off

Anyone ever have wires blow off the top of their distributor when starting?

It's usually the coil wire and a plug wire off the distributor.

    ???

can happen - usually due to wires not being secure in cap.push them down hard. they should sort of lock in.

I figured as much...I've pushed them down hard...time and again
they keep popping off...I guess it's time for new wires

Slide the boot back a bit and try to slide the wire in until the clip 'clicks' into place. You may have to spread the clip a bit. Then slide the boot down, squeezing the top a bit to keep from trapping too much air inside.
If it is popping off only when starting, make sure you aren't dealing with a worn bushing. Remove the cap and wiggle that shaft. Too much slop will allow cranckase pressure to get into the cap.
