Will a carburter off of a 1976 Chevy van 6cyl 292 engine fit on a 1969 Chevy van 250 6cyl engine? The carburetor on my van is # 7029007 & the carburetor off of the 1976 Chevy van is # 17056009.... Also of anyone has any other carburetor numbers that will fit it let me know.

Re: 2nd gen carburetor question?
The question is,,,,,,,how good will it work even if it does fit,,,,,,you need to make sure it is a 1 barrel,,,,see what choke system it has on it,,,,,that 76 probably has a cable for linkage instead of a rod,,,,,and it might have a solenoid on it for idle control,,,,,so you really need to compare them to see how close they are to each other,,,,,,

Re: 2nd gen carburetor question?
I rebuilt the 7029007 carb and it sprays gas good but will not idle... I can close the choke about halfway & it will stay running but once I open the choke up the engine dies. I don't know if the carb is just bad or there's something that I need to adjust on it... Has anyone ever had this problem & If so what was the problem?

Re: 2nd gen carburetor question?
In the meantime,,,,,spray some carb cleaner down the carb when it is acting up,,,,,see if it it gets better or worse,,,,,we need to know if the carb is putting out too much or too little fuel,,,,,and of course,,,,as always,,,,,make sure the points are adjusted,,,,,nothing will work right if the points aint right,,,,,,

Re: 2nd gen carburetor question?
I will tear it back down & check the bottom bowl gasket to make sure I have it on the right way... The van had been sitting since 2004 when I got it & I had to adjust the points to get it going... I had not adjusted any points in a out 25 years so there's a good possibility that they might be out of adjustment to... I will most defiantly go to electronic ignition later on if the engine turns out to be good... I will post an update when I get to recheck everything out.... Thanks for the help & info....

If your real lucky Don makes house calls. I never would have found my mistake with that gasket. Wouldn't hurt to get a second set of eyes when you tear it back down.

Yes I agree with the second set of eyes I have diabetes & it has about blinded me.... That's why I figure I could of put the gasket in the wrong way.... I sure hope that when I tear it back down that's the problem....
