dog house insulation Empty dog house insulation

    Post by van-detta Sun Dec 04, 2011 7:40 am

Does anyone have a good source for the foil faced insulation insulation for the inside of the dog house? I had seen it in Jeggs and Summit, but had thoughts that maybe there were other places to get it. Also, is there more sound deading if I used "Dyna-mat" instead of the fiberglass?
    Thanks!!

So this is the best way to reduce the sound and heat transfer into the cabin?

The insulation Ford put in there originally not backed by foil, and they cut the corners. The rubber seal at the bottom of the lid important also.

I used a pre-cut kit for mine specifically made for A100's. The components of the kit can be purchased separately from a number of places. The insulation itself can be found at JC Whitney (here) and at Lowes, Home Depot etc and purchased by the roll.

You can cut it to fit and then use "foil backed HVAC tape" from the places listed above to tape/seal the edges so water doesn't get behind it. Use 3M high temp spray glue or equivalent to glue the insulation to the inside of your doghouse panels (also available from the places listed above)

Quietride.com has pre-cut kits for A100's and E's as well, a link to the catalog PDF is here I'd call them and confirm what comes in the kit.

Is there more of a hazard with the foil than with sheet metal? Your point is good though, and may warrant some sort isolating plate / plastic between the starter relay and foil to prevent any current from transferring to the foil, if that's what you mean?
