Will you be putting an internal sleeve in the fulcrum shafts before welding them back together?

Re: Gettin' Stoopid 66G
The lower control arms.. No I am just going to weld those but there will be some bracing added. The tube there is .200 thick and should be able to weld ok, that and the inside diameter is an odd size, 2.10". Any other tubing I have is dead on at 2" or the solid shaft we have around is 2-3/16". I'll be using a DC stick on them, not the MIG. Should be okay.

Re: Gettin' Stoopid 66G
Back on the bench.
It's kind of a mix of assembly and mock up at this point.
One of the next steps is getting some top shock mounts fabbed up.
I have a new rotor and some more small bearings ordered for the other side. Not a fast process as I try not to forget or overlook anything.(I'm sure it will happen)

nice work your doing there and a lot of it.i am sure you know but the closer to right angles your shocks are the better they work

Re: Gettin' Stoopid 66G
Yup ! A little angle will gain me some travel on the LCA but I'm not looking for much. I may even build the top mounts to allow for a couple different locations to dial it in. Some things here are going to remain a mystery until I get it all put together for sprung weight and all that jazz. Right now all I can do is estimate and may have to play with spring rates before its all done.

Re: Gettin' Stoopid 66G
Worth keeping in the back of your mind is those Jag springs came in differnet rates to suit the various models the suspension went into.
If you find you can't get the spring rate you want out of yours you can always go heavier or lighter and start playing with the angles to fine tune the spring rates.

Re: Gettin' Stoopid 66G
Right, I'm not 100% sure on these seeing as the whole thing seems to have been assembled with non original parts in places. If it is true to the XJ series specs the springs may be 400# and might do okay...maybe,,lol

Re: Gettin' Stoopid 66G
I got the halfshafts welded up and put some of it together to check out the range of motion. It's making me think about doing a temp thing on the coil overs and maybe go for an air setup when it gets alot further along. In this pic the LCA hits against the inner Ujoint at 6.5" UP from level axle. So that is the upper limit and would put the rockers at about7" off the ground with 30" tall tires. What I am seeing is this might be a cool way to go if a person was going to Slam one of these on the ground and keep a constant driveshaft angle.

Re: Gettin' Stoopid 66G
I finally have all the big parts assembled. Still have the rotor to put on and shim some stuff for this stage.
There are 16 bearings and some seals in the LCAs and Hubs.
Think I'll give it a rest for awhile.

Had a chance to get any more done? Any plans on a sway bar for the rear?
