When I got my '66 Sportvan it had the original straight 6 in it, but the color of engine was Ford blue. I cant figure out why yet, I doesn't look like anyone painted it, because it looks like it was painted before it was in the van. The van served as a firetruck for about 15 years, if that means anything. Just wondering what your thoughts are on this and why this is.

Re: Engine Color?
I bought my van thinking it was original and found out some time in its life the motor was swapped. Crawl under and find the stamp and compare it to your number codes on your driver door. It will tell you if its stock or not.

Re: Engine Color?
lot could happen in 45 years. chevy dropped the orange and went blue in the '70's (lighter than ford blue) maybe engine was replaced or painted during a rebuild?

Re: Engine Color?
The 283 motor on my '65 108 is also painted blue. It's got overspray on the fuel line etc, so it looks like it was done when the motor was rebuilt long before I got the van. There are patches of Chevy reddish-orange under the blue paint where it has chipped off the intake manifold.
