I want to replace the old stock alternator & voltage regulator with a new, 1 wire alternator. Any suggestions on what brand/model alt to purchase?. Additionally, how is it wired into the stock harness...which wires do I use and which can I eliminate? Thanks in advance for your help.

When switching to a self-energized alt, you remove the regulator and tape off or remove the wires. A single wire with a fusible link goes from the alt, to the battery. Dash light or gauge?

And you got choices of what 1 wire alternator to use,,,,,,In my book, converting a 3 wire GM alternator that costs about $15 at Pick a Part is the basic way to go,,,,,,,,or you can spend more money,,,,,,,,,,

using an upgraded ford alt,externally reg. roughly 75 amp
what type of reg do you need,
obv you cant use a stock reg, its for a 50 amp alt...or can you????
