I would go with a Mallory Unilite distributor. Better performance etc.

if just looking for a points conversion pertronix is what you are looking for, use your stock dizzy and retain original look. I've had good luck w/ them.

Also the Ford Dura Spark,, some prefer the Ford module that uses a white wire to retard the spark for easier starting and still get full advance curve also at the same time, some prefer the GM module and lastly the Dodge module. Only thing to consider is the size of your hex on your oil pump. Earlier and smaller motors will have the 1/4 drive, later uses a 5/16th drive. The smaller early block CAN be drilled out to use it, but suggest only doing that if you have and also when rebuilding it. Here is a link on the Dura Sprk for you to read anyways.

After all of the posts, I still haven't read what size motor you have?? There is a DUI for the big six also, but have heard rumor it hits the doghouse. The Pertronix is well tested and seems to work very well, but I am not familiar if its available for the big six?? the Dura Spark for either the big six or the small six as mentioned.

the pertronix drops into your current distributor. it is nearly universal and I'd be surprised if they did not have one that fit just about any traditional distributor.

i have a 170 with a 200 head btw. i just ordered a new stock distributor, since mine was the factory og with the oil flap. next is the pertronix module. 3 or 400 bucks for one of those fancy distributors is ludacris.
