Re: Van names...
I usually use the birthname when I take the 65 I simply fill it in as Sportsman. My adress never changes either, Earth!itruns wrote:
I've only been to a few van shows, but each time they want a van's "Name" and I'd like to write down something other than "the Good One", "T.B.D." or "Scary Van".

Re: Van names...
Our first Econoline's original owner was Cassius Clay, so we called it "C. C. Rider".
When "C. C. Rider" got totaled, the next van we found (thanks to G-Man's posts) was carribean turquoise in color, so it's the "Carribean Cruiser", or "C. C. Rider II"!

van name
it is the bookmobile. where i grew up (rural kansas in the 70's), the vernacular for taking off or departing or leaving a place was 'let's book'--still don't know the origin--but from that came THE BOOKMOBILE.

Re: Van names...
If its still around probably not unless its pretty generic uh,kinda like my Old Skool Magic Bus project,a combination of 2 fairly common names. Once their gone however, they're gone. Then again,if you thought it up yourself and werent really copying it why shoulldnt you? I own a piece of the old early Ford Sharp Dressed Van which is no longer around. I guess a Sharp Dressed Van II wouldnt be out of line in a case like that.

Re: Van names...
I would have too believe many have named their vans with names from other vans , not know someone else used that name already.

Re: Van names...
This all that's left of Miss Used Two. Miss Used One died back in the 70's. A victim of the rust belt. Rust got this one too. I'll probably have another Miss Used someday. I don't see anything wrong with using a name over. That is as long as it's your name. I'm not sure about using somebody else's name. Now, I'm sure I'm not the only one to use this name but I don't know of any others. I wouldn't take a name from a famous van. That's just me though. But how many Midnight Riders have we all seen. Some names are just too common for anybody to call it their own. Just my thoughts.

I know with boat names they usually just add a Roman numeral to it. If you came up with a good name, you sure as hell don't want to lose it.
A few examples:
Permanent Waves
Comin' in Hot
Byte Me
Barely A-Wake
Hakunamatata (aka Matata, No Worries)

Re: Van names...
[b][i]I don't know how I feel about that...I guess if it wasn't a "famous" van, then why not, as long as it fits your van. Though a true vanner should know their heritage and know that their name is not an original. For those of us that knew the original van that had that name, it my be a "for better" or "for worse" thing...

Re: Van names...
"The Package"? "Box of Glass"?
I noticed that the color is close to Newport smokes and with the little round taillight lit up, the torpedo tube side resembles a lit cigarette...
