    Distributor Woes Empty Distributor Woes

Post by Spank Mon Nov 15, 2010 1:56 pm

Decided to go with a cheap stock points style distributor to go into my new 200 (until i upgrade).

I am close to throwing the thing through the side of the garage.

I am having problems getting the rotor pointed directly at cylinder 1 firing point at the same time as getting the oil pump drive shaft to engage. Any pointers?

Try installing it as close as possible to No.1, then rotate the engine to allow it to drop down and engage the oil pump drive. Rotate it through 720 degrees (2 revolutions) to make sure it's aligned with number one.

Thats like a 2 part deal,,,,,,once you drop the distributor in and the gear catches so that the rotor turns with the engine, you have the timing locked in ,,,,,,so just turn or crank the engine until the distributor finds the oil shaft by itself and falls down into it,,,,,,,
