    Baker's 2011 Empty Baker's 2011

    Post by G-Man Fri Nov 05, 2010 7:54 pm

Because of when Van Fest will be held and Fathers Day Baker's will be at the end of June XXXXXXX ( this has been changed to June 26th 2011)

As always I'm open to new ideas for the show, so if you have seen something cool at another show drop me a PM with your idea.

The weather wasn't on our side last year, but with even that we had a record turn out. Hope to see next year in Milford, MI

Slight correction, Vanfest is June 10-12 2011. It will likely remain on this weekend.

Wow Chris, thats a real bad weekend for us Econo owners since thats the weekend of the 50th Anniversary Econoline celebration at the All Ford Nationals in Carlisle,Pa.
Vanfest has always been on the weekend following Carlisle as far as I know.

    Hey Tim
I heard that the Carlisle event is great for parts and sharing knowledge.
Where, what hotel do the earlies stay at?
Any caravans that you know of that are planned to come out of the northeast?
I could make this one as a trial trip before Bakers.

Most of us camp on site at Carlisle, either in vans oir tents. They have everything you need there and its very clean. Stores are close if you need anything too. I usually haul parts up every year for someone but theres a big parts swap/vendors area also. Its a great time and should be a big turnout this year being the 50th anniversary and all.

Digz Is looking into something and will be handling something that many of you have been asking for over the years for the Baker's show. Won't say what it is till theres more infor on it, but sure many of you would be interested in it.

After Christmas I will start working on the Baker's show and like always if some has a idea for the show let me know and I will see what I can do....

Here is what I am working on: The possibility of finding a campground nearby that would allow a breather from travelling.
What I need is a straw vote on who and how many would be interested, also if you need someplace that allows pets and what ammenities would be required? What I am finding so far is not pet friendly and being so close to Detroit the rates may be somewhat high. I have a couple E-mail inquiries out and will be making some phone calls after the Holidays. In the meantime let me know what you think !

Hayes state park on RT 12 in the Irish hills is pet friendly. Only a stones throw from MIS. Lots of camp grounds that area. About 30 miles west of Ann Arbor Check out Waterloo recreation area too. Dunno about pets though. About 20 miles from Ann Arbor.

Right now I am checking into the Proud Lake State Rec Area, have to wait til Monday now to try to call again... It would be in colse proximity and not out of the way for any particular direction of travel. Stu , you are the first feedback I have gotten on this ,,if anyone else would be interested PLEASE let me know. Private campgrounds seem to be scarce or a bit pricey and with restrictions on certain things. If pets are not an issue with anyone I can check into Camp Dearborn right in Milford a bit pricey but by the time one would have to get day passes and camping fees for a State park it might would be comparable Still have to check them out.
Addition: I just checked with Camp Dearborn, the rates are 23$ a night with electric , No pets, Vans with beds in them are okay or a tent. That part of the conversation was funny ..lol.. Reservations would be best and I could handle that. The rates are cheaper than I had expected the advertised rates were higher or imcomplete maybe.

Seems like most Michgan campgrounds I've been to are $20-$25 a night. If it's a state campground, they charge 5 to 8 on top of that just to have access to the park.

I wanted to throw this out there. Many have asking about camping. I have a Big yard and think that I would have plenty of room for all you guy's that want to camp. Not alot of shade threw the day there, but in the evening theres some. There would be no costs to camp and maybe we can plan a dinner with everyone bring a dish to pass. If your interested post it here. I will be putting this infor in the first flyer in a few weeks
