That's really cool, Rick! This thread is a great history lesson! More than a tidbit. Thank you, and all the best in 2009... hope you'll stick around!

Re: Chuck Poole's Chuckwagon 2
Hey Rick, man thanks for posting this stuff!! I would say the only thing going for me is my long hair and chain wallet it is probably the only thing I have in common with bikers. It really is too bad that the truck is just sitting out and letting mother nature beat it up. I take it you haven't spoke to these guys since? Thanks for posting the info.

That would be so cool Rick!! Do you think they would let you take more pictures? If possible can you shoot anything and everything on the truck? That is awesome, thanks for posting. Mike K.

chuckwagon
I remember watching chuck pooles chuckwagon at mission raceway back in the 60's. I thibk you have been misslead if you think some one in BC bought it. I do not believe that was the case. The wheelstander Ecstacy that you speak of was a totally different truck. It was also a flop, a very beautiful flop, non the less a failure.

Re: Chuck Poole's Chuckwagon 2
I don't know where you (badboy) got your information about the Chuckwagon not being the Ecstasy wheelstander, but, you might want to speak to Sylvia, the driver, or maybe Art Morrison (yes THAT Art Morrison) he was Chuck Poole's crew member back then. Also to correct an earlier post... after Chuck crashed the first Chuckwagon (actually it was the second one-the so-called twin engine was the fourth) to fulfil his bookings the VW was hastily built, it was this piece that held the mph record for a number of years-over 140 on the rear wheels, the front about two foot off. While he was running this they were building the twin engine piece, when that was finished he mothballed the VW until Art borrowed it, put a rat motor in it and campaigned as the American Flyer. When Sylvia and her husband bought the Chuckwagon, Chuck went back to running the VW, Art got tied in with Tom Turner and his '63 vette then gave up banging nails and the rest as they say is history.
