Has anyone had trouble before with going into 2nd from 1st with a three in the tree. I have no problem from reverse to 2nd or 2nd into 1st. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

The problem could be that 1st gear is not going into neutral in the trans which won't let 2nd gear shift out of neutral in the trans. So check the levers on the trans,,,,see if they are tight,,,,,,,move those levers by hand,,,,,see if you feel the levers click forward and back,,,,,,check the bushings on the rods on the levers on the trans,,,,,,,,check the bushings on the rods at the levers behind the grille. Make sure the rods are adjusted correctly,,,,,,,,,

I'd check and do what Donivan recommends first. Here is my experience with a similar problem Don noticed in April.

I changed the rear transmission seal that was leaking on my 66 a month ago. I noticed a bolt missing that the linkage rides through, replaced the bolt and added almost 2 quarts of oil to the transmission. I can shift without any grinding, it's a lot quieter when driving and one less oil spot on the driveway.
