Hey Everybody,
I've been lurking on here for a long while, NEVER thought I'd find the pickup I wanted...
...I thought I could go without a pickup truck so I sold my '95 I bought new, about 2 weeks
later it was apparent I HAD to have a vehicle to daily and to haul stuff occaisionally. ONE day
after this, a member on the Ford Falcon forum I'm on (I've been working on Falcons for a few
years,) said he was moving to California and had his Arizona 1961 Econoline Pickup he couldn't
seem to sell on CL. When I saw it, a flood of memories of being a kid and seeing these cool,
unique-proportioned vans and pickups came to me. I dug it right from that moment!
(Poser shot: all of my younger workers couldn't get over the Little Guy... one guy Pat,
my sander, jumped right in, "Bro, you got to take my ####ing picture RIGHT NOW.")
(owner had trouble selling it because it was out of state and title was missing- NO
PROBLEM FOR ME!!! Bill of Sale and get the thing weighed (Cali rule for trucks) and
take the info to triple-A, ha!!!) (Plus it was an Arizona Vehicle=no rust!)
I had a laundry list of stuff to make it a Daily: Speedo Drive in Tranny, Shift
Lever Redo and with the help of one of my Falcon Vendors I got all the rubber
bushings for the springs and "chassis," still has great prices. Got a new mount
for the Tranny Donut fabbed from a urethane/graphite bushing too. Now I
can hear the doors rattle by themselves, ha.
I can drive the Little Guy to work now (2 miles, surface streets) but the freeway
driving is almost impossible with the 200cid, 3spd and 4.00 rear axle
Feels like he's gonna grenade at about 50!!! haha.
Not sure what I plan to do beyond the Laundry List and DailyDriver status. Got
a 5.0L HO EFI from a '91 Mustang, also a spare 9 inch and I even have a 4R70W.
(I'm not afraid of the electronics.)
Body has some beatings,
(bashed in the face a bit, there might be some filler. I weld so I might look for a
clip if I can't bash it back out) (owner said the Lil' Guy lived on a farm in Prescott
and Chandler areas, they pushed animals with it
So glad about this Forum! Hope to learn and maybe help- got lots of potential here.
Still pinching myself when I open into the garage to go to work- and I'm going to
work with a SMILE on my face!!! ha.
Thanks everyone,
George
