Hey... not sure how your topic got missed... I missed it! Welcome.

You must have a Ford, as I asked myself the same question (do I have a 170).

The drivers side of the block will have the part number cast in (mine starts with C5DE I think? Whatever translates into "1965 Falcon block"). Most parts will be the same for tuneup (plugs, wires). As far as other clues, check the door plate... the vin number has an engine code in one place, and if it seems to match your engine, that's sometimes enough to tell the story.

On American engines, I understand that valve cover colors on 144s were blue, 170s red, 240s gold. Otherwise, look for any plates on the engine (rebuild tags) that might indicate the engine displacement.

Maybe there is more information you can help us help you with (pics, other numbers you find).

    Good luck.
