Gas Cap modification Empty Gas Cap modification

Post by Keith D Sat Mar 06, 2021 2:05 pm

My apologies as I'm sure this has been posted about before but either the search feature is not working now or I am not using it right.

I wanted to know what years of Barracuda flip style gas cap fit, and what is needed to adapt it to the A100.

Any info and or pictures would be appreciated.

Thanks...Keith

Hi Keith
i can post 3 photo's
1st the cap will need redrilled  to fit the fill tube bolts,
2nd the cap needs to be shimed about 1/8th "so when opened it does not chip the paint.

Thanks Dix for the pictures and information, very helpful.

I have seen two types, one that says fuel on the cap and a plane chrome one, do you know if both types will work.

OutofSite Do you have the one that says fuel on it... Do you both like it?

I opted for the plain Jane cap, as I have a 1969 Barracuda already.

Keith,
If you have a stock fuel setup for the early A100s, make sure that the gas cap that you install is vented. Otherwise, a vacuum lock can cause fuel starvation.

Thanks guys...

I got hold of Dan Beard and I should be receiving the shim plate any day now.

I ordered a reproduction flip gas cap also arriving soon and yes they are vented caps.

I am getting the one that says fuel on it. I plan to paint the black insert the body color (yellow), I think it will look good.
