I don't know if people here have noticed but this was brought to my attention on the Fordsix forums a few weeks ago. Holley has released an Autolite 1100 Sniper 1 barrel TBI. It's a direct bolt in replacement for the carbs used on our van's that have the small six, i.e. 144's, 170's and 200's or even 250's that have been swapped in. The linkage is the same, it bolts directly to the early cylinder head that came in our vans. Later cylinder heads that may be swapped in would require an adapter that's available from Vintage Inlines HERE.

At the same time Holley has released a Hyperspark EFI distributor for the small six. So timing control is also a bolt affair.

wow that's pretty exciting actually. I am definitely after a daily driver with sependability and economy and that seems to be a great option. I dont have the funds at the moment and my Holley is actually in the tank soaking and will be rebuilt. If I dint get decent idling/reliability with the rebuild and pertronix stuff I ordered I will start saving up for this! Thanks for sharing

I installed the Sniper 2GC on my stock 240. Just needed the transdapt 2025 carb adapter. I modified the oil bath filter with a reducer and paper filter element to complete the install. The Sniper works out of the box, but needs a professional tune to achieve happiness.

I'm going to go with the small 2cg sniper as well for my 250. But if I had a 170 I wouldn't hesitate to use the 1100 version. Based on the size twin throttle body on my 93 4.9 f150 I just don't believe the 1100 1v can physically move enough air.

How's the 2cg working out for you?

Sniper is great. It really woke up my 240. I pass people on the highway and it is quick off the jump. I followed instruction and it started up right out of the box. But.....the factory settings just get it started and I know nothing if about tuning efi. So I hired a remote tuner. He created a base tune to my set-up and I send him logs to review and adjust the tune. We are in tune 3 now and it is so much better. Just tweaking out a few quirks based on what he sees on his computer and what I report back to him. My favorite part is the electric fan control. It has two and I use one for my transmission cooler. My main cooling fan is mechanical.

Yeah I love the idea of computer fan control. Or like you're doing having those temp referenced triggers. I know that Holley has a part # for a hyperspark distributor for the 240/300 but that part doesn't yet exist. It's definitely coming soon, it's in their recent reference literature. So it must be coming. I'm surprised they made an 1100, let alone a dist for the small six. The 300 is at least as big of a market. Probably much larger.
