Gen 1 and Gen 2 side profiles match?

I have a 65 GMC handi-van where a tree fell on the roof years ago, damaging the roof, sidewall and horizontal steel where they meet.  It even put a small kink in the two upright 'beams' inside.  I see a  GEN 2 in a local junkyard that has a good solid drivers side, does anyone know if the profile matches the Gen 1 window van so I could make it into a display van?

I think they are the same except for the front? Let me know if you are going to sell those pop out windows. One of my friends needs some for his Van.
I think display vans are cool.

Thanks Russell, I'll be doing some detailed dimensions so I can compare, and I'll look you up if I have the windows available. I'm working on drivetrain first.

The cab roof skins are different as is the front ahead of the doors...…. In the area you are showing, they are the same..... The required bodywork needed is going to cost way more than the van's value..... Way better to find a better body as a starting point...

so the 1st 3 yrs are the same wheel base as 2nd gen (hight too?)

Cut out and replace what is dented and keep the original body forget the advice about more than its worth, if that stood true none of us would be working on keeping these alive. If you like it fix it and keep it on the road.

Some sections require english wheel &
other specialty equp. Untill all older vehicles
get the respect a few do, we will not find sources
of after market sheet metal (U can build a 'stang or
bronco from scratch today this way) for these rare art-
work-on-wheels. Best bet? patch panels, bench built as
far as I can do or see...I just ask my Q to see if I can short
cut it & go to the junk yrd for less wrk & more availability. We
call it 'swap-ins".
