Hi Guys, I was yesterday on a longer Trip of about 111 Miles or 180 km. The gas tank was Full when i started. At the end i refueled it with about 9 l of Gas. This world make anconsumption of about 5 l on 100 km. That Sounds a Little weird to me. So my question how many consumption on 100km is normal for a 225 Cui Slant Six. What do i have to expect? What about Temperaturen of the doghouse? Which Temperature is normal? Thanks for sharing your experience!

Well,,,,,take a temperature reading on the valve cover when the engine is hot and then compare it to to the top of the engine cover to see how much heat is escaping upwards,,,,,,that gives you some idea on how to insulate the doghouse to cut down on heat coming into the inside of the van,,,,,,now to help cut down on heat in the doghouse, cool the radiator and get rid of the gasoline smell and boilover from the carburetor, we mount a fan from the floor or on the bellypan controlled by a twist lightbulb timer, so we can just set it and forget it and it helps take care of these problems,,,,,,,

111/2.377
That equates to ~47 miles to the gallon. That would be amazing, but can't be correct. Perhaps you didn't actually top it off all the way, or your speedo is off. If you topped it off with 19L of gas, that would be more inline with what you might expect. Which would be ~22 miles per gallon, which is pretty good.
