It has a glossy surface and has a big metal flake in it. This material is often used on bar stools and restaurant booth seating. If you want a sparkely interior go for it. http://derbyfabrics.com/zodiac/

Cool!! I like their "Carbon Fiber" Vinyls, though. I wonder how many Naugas you have to skin to get a yard of this stuff? Aren't they those little rodent looking animals? LOL

I like the 60's-70's look .I didn't want shag carpet. I remember seeing a 57 chevy with the headliner red metal flake vinyl. Looked killer. And GMman the ZODIAC GREEN is one of the colors I'm looking at. I hope they feed those nauga's steroids or growth hormones Im looking at 50 yards of material!

Whatever you do, get a good adhesive. Weldwood HHR Landau Top and Trim is my go to.

Re: metallic vinyl naugahyde
Vanquished, that's real nice thanks for sharing .How long did it take to stitch all those ribs? I have the fiberglass panels off a custom sportsman to wrap. I'm making panels for the lower and roof. I'm in a toss up on all one color or wrapping the window panels in a different color. Wolfster thanks for your glue recommendation. I shot Fred Carello a pm. I would like his expert advice and services for this project. I'm lucky enough to live an hour away from Fred. It took me sixteen years to get this far with my 65. This year I'm finishing this van. This is my first serious go at upholstery. Keep the interior pictures coming.

You can actually purchase "tuck and roll" vinyl off of ebay. Couple different versions: heated tuck seams and sewn tuck seams. Finding them in metalflake may be a little difficult.

I bought a roll of sewn diamond pleat off of ebay and less than pleased. material is as thin as a condom but not as strong and the threads are coming loose already, some stiches popped as I stretched the vinyl over the door panels. order samples first!Wolfster wrote:You can actually purchase "tuck and roll" vinyl off of ebay. True. The old adage holds true: You get what you pay for. The manufacturing process of the sewn vinyl will always have cut and loose threads on both ends. Tie them off, sew them off, seal them. I've ordered it on occasion and went with the marine grade. Most reputable sellers will give a weight/mil thickness along with temperature compatibility. With any diamond pleat or sewn pleat vinyl, they are not really made to stretch in the manner of an un-sewn vinyl. Which is why I recommended a top grade adhesive.
