Re: Hot Wheels EPup!!!
I just watched it tonight! Here's a few pics;
It's going to be a Hot Wheel Red-Line car!!! Engine is in backwards, they set it up to reverse the direction of the power and send it back to the rear wheels. 750HP and they were talking about putting Nitrous as well...not sure if they went through with it. They only had 10 weeks to do it and Aaron, the head mechanic, backed out before the end of the build for personal reasons, which they did not elaborate on...

Re: Hot Wheels EPup!!!
Crazy how they stretched it and put the rear wheels way back.

Re: Hot Wheels EPup!!!
I don't think they stretched it but they cut out the wheel well and moved it back. They had a special chassis made for it. The skin is the only original piece. They have a center seat and a custom dashboard. If you get a chance to watch it, it's a pretty kool build! I'll have to watch it again...

Re: Hot Wheels EPup!!!
OK, please 'splain something to an old guy who doesn't have cable. Why do they want the power "reversed" to the rear differential? Or did they put it in backwards to make the driveshaft longer? I think you could make the engine run backwards buy building it as a marine engine. Is the rear differential a "reverse rotation"? Please be patient with an "old Okie".
Jim
PS. Is the driveshaft to transmission output chain, belt or what?
I guess I should just get cable.

Re: Hot Wheels EPup!!!
They wanted to make it "crazy" to have a good shot at becoming a redline hot wheel and were told they didn't have a budget... Just do it the way you would if money was no object! I wish someone would tell me that for mine. I think they used something called a v-drive to reverse the power because they faced the engine backwards like in a boat. The v-drive turns the power 180 degrees. I'll watch it again and pay more attention.

Re: Hot Wheels EPup!!!
Yeah, watched it again and they just stretched the wheelwell and moved it back to the rear of the EPup. The tires were unbelievably wide. One of the skinny mechanics got himself completely into the rear tire. It was designed to be a "toy" so wacky was what they were shooting for...a tribute to all the dragster/wheelstanders that used to entertain at Raceways like Lil Red Wagon Dodge and others. The engine was a 550 with 750 horse power and they added 250 nitrous also!!! You could almost feel the power through the TV when they started and revv'd it up!!!

The mind does "free-spin" when you say "no budget"!
