I have been working on this van for almost 2 years now. I bought the van localy here in Spokane and it needed alot of work. The original 170 Auto was throwing oil out the tail pipe so I found a low milage 1976 Dodge Diplomat with a 225 Super 6 for $50. I have a total of $1,200 into the whole van. Its a low budget ride but I like how she is turning out. I just got the roof rack and ladder today at Pull & Save for $15.00. I also have to install a new Painless wireing harness, guages, power windows, and electric fan. Oh last thing...all of this work is being done outside in my back yard...truely shade tree build. This is my first van build and I have never built anything before. Man its fun !

Looks like your hard work is paying off. Nice Job. Also cool rims on your van. Looks like 8 doors make it easier to change out motors. Keep the pic's comming.

Nice, I like the rat rod, beat up look! I realize it's not necessarily what you want, but better to have a beat up van than no van at all!

Thanks for the kind words fellas....This is my only Dodge but I have 3 other vans but they are GM. The rims on the Dodge are believe it or not Weld Racing rims...15x8 I have big tires on back and smaller on front for a bit of a rake. My biggest problem is keeping wasps or bees out of the friggin rig while I work on it...I was told fresh drier sheets but that didn't work.

The rig my neibor and I design worked perfectly...solid straight metal beem, wooden A frame ends and a small electric wench and roller to roll the old motor out and onto a small trailer. The 8 doors really didn't come into play since we took it out the passanger side doors. I do LOVE the 8 doors, I have a set of solid no window doors for my 66 Chevy I am considering converting the old Chevy into an 8 door, Ford had a 8 door and Chevy needs one too!

I didn't know that Dodge had made an 8 door van. I knew Ford did. They are hard to find. A dodge one would be even harder to find.
That was quite the appraratise you had for removing the engine.
My trucks I have to remove the front passenger door and use a cherry lift.

Your bee and wasp problem Use a bottle with sweatened sugar water in it. They tend to get in the bottle and not come out.
I think it is sugar water. But I read somewhere about putting a bottle or dish out away from you and it attracts them to it.
Look up home remedy's to attract wasps. Google that and you may get an answer to the problem.

I just never seen one or knew. There are lots of people who did not know about the 8 door econolines either.
I sold a door to a fella who bought one. He was rat rodding it. He got it cheap and did not know it was a rare van body. A year later he sold it for over 3500 to a person who is restoring it. That fella made a nice profit for something he did not know was rare til I told him. At that time he had no plans to sell t, but when dollar signs came up. That can change a person.
