Magnum 360 from 93 Ram fitting in the doghouse Empty Magnum 360 from 93 Ram fitting in the doghouse

Ok I am a new guy here....I know Joel from my other forum (Sweptline.org).  Just got a 69 Dodge A108 that wasn't running.  Removed the engine and a guy asked if I was replacing the engine cuz he has a running Magnum 360 from a 93 Ram 2500 that he would sell me.  Turns out that "sell" was not actually the proper term...he wanted to "trade" for a 30 pack of busch light Very Happy   (I asked if he wanted a better quality of beer, but he said that was his favorite) So I guess my question is, with the dog house, is there enough room to put the 360 in there with the EFI or should I order the Mopar Performance Intake and switch it to carbed?  I am familiar with the basic design and setup of the 61-71 Dodge machines, but the doghouse has me wondering if it will be too tall

What do you guys think (or know)....also probably going with the 46RH trans behind it...the van is going to be a cruiser not a racer so the OD and lockup torque converter are a plus.  Is there a problem with the shortness in the driveshaft that is going to be created by going to that transmission?  I know its longer than the current A727 hanger that is in there.

Thanks in advance for the info

I have done that exact swap, and height is not an issue. You can keep the EFI if you are willing to go thru the wiring nightmare. The only harness I could find that is designed for this swap is from Hotwire, and it is $845.00. I am trying to convert my harness myself. My engine and trans came out of a 99 Durango and I have the entire harness out of the Durango. I think that if my trans was a RH like yours rather than my RE, I would swap to a carb just to get it on the road sooner. You will have to change accessories and eliminate your power steering pump because it actually is too wide on the drivers side. I kept mine in place since I am running P/S and have clearanced the drivers side panel to make it fit.

Transmission length will be a problem as well. I posted a couple of pictures showing the distance between the rear yoke and the trans, and my wheelbase is shorter than your 108. My truck is a little way from being on the road yet, so even though I think my new shaft will be fine, it could be a problem. Please make sure you keep updating your progress. I need all of the help I can get! Good luck!

Hoffy is the man on this, listen to the man!

As far as height, you should be okay, you can always switch from the air cleaner housing on top of the beer barrel intake to a remote one like used in the trucks.
That might get you some cooler air too!

If you keep the EFI, not only do you have to wire, but also fuel. The best way is to have a tank with a pump and lines built. Early magnums were return - pump in tank, line up to fuel rail, regulator on the fuel rail, return line. Later ones were returnless - pump and regulator in tank, single feed line. A '93 will be an early.

on an A108 transmission will not be a problem, Hoffy. It is about 10 inches longer than stock 727. Perfect for a 108. The 108 will have a drive shaft the size of about a regular a100. I'm in the process of this swap also.

Well I have the original mounting brackets from the 360 and the 318, if I keep the 318 brackets and make them work on the 360, do I need 318 or 360 insulators? The 318 mounts on the engine will work on the 360 if I do it right

You need the stock 318 mount on the drovers side, a 360 mount on the passenger. If I remember correctly, you use the rubber that cane with the mount. So 318 on drivers, 360 on passenger. Its because there is a little set in in the rubber that moves with 360 mount. Let me know how yours looks! My engine seems a little closer to one side than the other, but I never looked when it was stock. So it may just always have been that way.
