Thats a full size van in the ad, so I'd think it could be made to work. It's nice to be able to stand up and drink. Very Happy

Looks cool, especially if you have a sportvan with a trashed roof and you want to build a camper out of it.

I'll bet that top costs ALOT $$$ sportmobile was always spendy.

That being said, their website says they will install it in a day. It would be neat to just drop your van off and pick it up the next day with a pop-top professionally installed.

No dice. Here's the reply I got when I emailed 'em about their thoughts on putting one of these tops on a vintage van:

Thank you for your interest in Sportsmobile. Sorry, but we mold our tops
specifically for the brand of chassis and year, and only have tops for the
Chevy's going back into the mid 1990's.

We do have an on-line store with other parts and accessories that you may
    need, www.sportsmobilestore.com

They do put out very nice vans. I've seen one or two buzzing around town and let me tell you, the fully decked out 4WD one looks like it means business, big time.

The poptop alone looks like it'll run you just under $6000.

My only comment on pop-tops = if it isnt metal or fiberglass tops- where are you down the road when all that canvass/ material gets worn & rotten? We all have seen the v/;w's & the popup towable campers in sad condition.yea-theyre cool yet look down the road in longevity? After acquiring 2 vans with the travler equip tops & another top that was removed from a van = there is just no comparasion. 5-6 Grand ?? To each his own. Think id find someplace else to put that Money at. cheers

Xelmon and I did some quick tape-measure checks on a Sportsmobile poptop last summer when we saw one at a campout, it was an extended-length Econoline 4x4, early-to-mid 2000's if it matters.

The poptop measured out within 1/2" side-to-side and within 1" front-to-back compared to his '68 90" Sportvan. The shape where the fiberglass hits the roof is obviously different, but it wasn't too far off and could probably work with a bit of trimming.

Just need to find one in a junkyard somewhere. =D

poptops are so cool just don't know if i got the nerve to cut my roof, as for when the canvas gets worn there are a ton of place on the net that do canvas remake or i'msure a upholstery shop for cars can do it.
