Re: Linoman's Super 8 Econo
First order of business will be to get it running. The engine turned by hand, so I shot some starting fluid down the carb & it fired right up! I'll drop the gas tank & run a new fuel line before I go any further.

Re: Linoman's Super 8 Econo
That's the plan Carl. Next will be putting the MC from my 67 parts van in so I can have brakes, and I'll need tires. That should get it on the road.

Re: Linoman's Super 8 Econo
Got the Fuel tank cleaned inside by the radiator shop, they also sandblasted the exterior. I painted it up with the body color I'm thinking of using just to see it on a larger scale. Just waiting on sending unit parts to arrive to reinstalled tank & get the engine running. Then move on to the brakes.

Re: Linoman's Super 8 Econo
Got the Super8 home a couple weeks ago & have been busy getting it road worthy. Flushed the cooling system, change the oil, putting new shocks on. I think the shocks were the originals from 1966 as the mounting bolts were still covered in the undercoating. The rears were no problem to change out, the fronts were another story! I had to heat the mounting bolts up and beat them out of the front axle. And the sway bar links broke where they connect to the bar. Argh! Once the front shocks are on it will be drivable.

Re: Linoman's Super 8 Econo
Hey Tim
Nice looking Supervan
Reminds me of my old one I had in the 80's.
Watch out for a couple of items on the 240 to 300 swap.
Gotta use the 240 oil pan on the 300.
That means you just lost your oil dipstick since the dipstick is in the 300 oil pan and not thru the sideblock as in the 240.
You can either mount a new dipstick in the 240 pan or drill in the side block hole of the 300 and use the 240 dipstick.
Also, you'll have to switch the alternator over to the driver side.
But that's about it for the swap..everything lines up.

Re: Linoman's Super 8 Econo
Thanks for the heads up on the oil pan & dip stick. The swap will be delayed till sometime in the fall as the current 240 is running just fine, something I didn't expect as the van has been sitting for at least 4 years. But this will allow me to focus on other stuff, like switching over to front disc brakes, new door and window seals, rewiring, body work, etc., etc.

Re: Linoman's Super 8 Econo
I went hoping to find a miata, no luck. But I'm really happy with these, and yes the color is right.
To make sure the seats weren't too wide I made a gauge out of wood that looked like a big U withe the legs set at
20 1/2" apart. It made searching through all the vehicles alot easier.
