1969 Chevy Van Empty 1969 Chevy Van

    Post by got2bowl Sun Dec 12, 2010 12:52 pm

With the help of you guys I found out information on my van I just picked up that no one else could find. I want to thank you for the info. But like all projects I need or should I say want more information. I found out that 625 vans were made in 69. Mine came with a V-8 and was wondering if there is a way to find out how many of them were V-8's. My van is now a 4x4 but I think it was added by a previous owner. Not that I think my van is going to be worth a lot of money because it is 1 of X amount. Just want the information for my knowledge.
    The VIN is GE26P722058
One more thing I found universal weatherstripping for my van but wanted to know if that would be the way to go or spend the 300 or 400 for OEM stuff. Your thoughts or has anyone done this and wish they should have spent the extra money.

I think your No#'s are wrong, way more 69 vans than that. There a paper out that has production no#'s and its 3000-4000 vans, unless you are talking about Delexe sportvans and that could be right

Looks like a very solid van. Cool that it still has alot of the sportvan parts still there, fiberglass trim and bench seats are hard to find. Missing the cover to the rod to the step and looks like someone added a tunnel for cooling. Thanks for the link

The spot lights make me wonder if it was ever owned by a Fire Dept.

Almost all the low miles vans I've seen were Fire Dept vans, my 69 is one of them only 36,000 when I got it. This could be the Fire Captains van??? Is there any other things that you might think could make it a Fire Dept van???

4x4, duel tanks and two batteries. The person I got it from said the person he got it from opened up the front to let it breath better. He said that was all he did to it. I take that back he put cruise control on it also. I don't when they introduced 4 wheel drive but I always thought it wasn't until the mid 70's.

I will see what I can do about that. I haven't really looked at it myself.
The batteries and tank I know are not stock but who did it is what I would like to know. I think I came across a good find myself and the price was right. Most people can't see the beauty in my van but I don't care. it is mine not theirs.

I saw the post about the '69 Chevy Van. Here is a picture of my brother in laws '69 Van along with my Dads '66 Dodge A100 and our Company big truck a '70 Dodge D500. The D500 and the Chevy van are long gone. I still have the A100 and I'm restoring it. I didn't realize that the Chevy Van was so rare.
