first time i went to this one was in 01'

Leadfoot reporting back from North East GMC/CHEVY Truck show:
well the mustang was there again this year! (not in the "show"
but through the gate and lined up sat for an unoficial "show in the camping area they have happening
    a studebaker pick-up, a willys wagon,a vw dune buggy,
a corvette, and a few ford pick ups and a few other misc non general motors vehicles were in the show field-
saturday night there was even a saab car "camping out"
    thats a saab story
seems as though the "rules" are not as strict
at this chevy/gmc TRUCK show than at an eVANt Wink
but i do know the host club is struggling like many van event hosts,so they may be "loosening the gate" for attendance hopes
for example this year had no band, no extra generators
not a lot of "extras" they have had in previous years
and called the weekend "back to basics"
    and it was indeed,
    no power, no running water
a few outhouses and a water tank on a trailer is all ya got
they did do some raffle drawings all throughout the weekend
and had a "dinner" served sat night for 5.00 a dinner ticket
    (was good!)
(same way i'd like to see a few more VAN events happen)
these folks pull it off WELL, and had around 40 or 50
vehicles camping out saturday night maybe a few more
    -
    a FUTURE LINER was there
same -refurbished one previously painted green with -peter pan bus lines- as the sponsor
it's orange now and no sponsors on the side
thought that was a nice change for it IMO
    -
there was a classic boat builder/refinisher who had made his own bed cap for his pick up... wait till ya see the woodwork
on THAT one! (pics in link)
AMAZING STUFF..i'd love to see what he could do to a van if given the chance
    -
Charlie and his wife were there from NH in his 70's chevy
his blue early with the gull door and vista roof is being "redone" right now
John also was there from mass with is sweet original condition
sportvan (he's the guy with the rear seat still in the GM wrapper in his attic for it!) a very sweet van he scored from a town auction.. it was a city truck!
-HippyLuke also made the trek up for the show sunday
was great seeing you up there ,and the van is looking great!
    -
total vans in the "van category" was 4
there was one more still in the camping area of the forest
but that was all of us this year
    John took 1st place
    i got 2nd
    very nice wood plaque awards
    -
today during the show i got to meet and greet the local
    newspaper reporter, from
    "The Recorder" in greenfield,mass
    www.recorder.com
he took a ton of info and a couple pics of my van
flipping page after page as he took notes
i told him about my van,
(he was REALLY interested in that)
told em we try and get a group of vans there every year,
told em about vanning, going to lots of events,
told em about the nationals some,
told em about SUPER SOMER next weekend
it is van and truck show Wink
(he was writing it all down so who knows!)
i was wearing a 05' ss T-shirt too today HEY altruk!)
gave em a magazine,a card and thanked him for
    spending time there
so we'll see if we make the front page now Smile
i had a great time as always at this show-
for those wishing they were there .. ya shoulda been !
git off yer ass and van next year and GO!
ok enough of my report i guess
    now ya want the pics...
    here ya go.. enjoy
