Hi, i imported my Econoline from California to the UK last year. Fortunately i did it when the exchange rate was good. It would be about 40% more expensive now as the Pound has completely collapsed against the dollar. Not sure about the Euro, but it seems to be doing better than the pound so you may be ok. Stuff is certainly way cheaper over in the USA,
I just bought mine off ebay, and hoped for the best. I didn't know about this forum then, so i just took the plunge... Mine turned out to be great, very pleased with it.
Shipping from the West Coast is more expensive. I was advised to buy one from the East Coast, but couldn't find one in the end, also, West Coast ones tend to be less rusty. Mine was shipped out of California and it went down the coast and through the Panama canal. It was done in a shipping container, as this way you can ship it over full of spare parts. If you use roll on-roll off it needs to be completely empty.
I paid $6000 for my van, and it cost about the same again to get it over here, that includes shipping, which was $3000 from California, and also i had to pay 10% import duty on everything, plus another 17.5% on top of that for VAT Tax. So i got taxed on my tax....!!!!!
Still, i got a rust free van delivered to my door for £6,000. This may sound a lot to those in the States, but over here, you couldn't pick up much for that price. There is a pickup on Ebay Uk at the moment, which is still in the States, and he wants nearly £14,000 for it....
Depending on what engine you are putting in it, you may want to buy one that is running. A lot of people seem to put V8s in pickups, if that is your plan, then you can get those over here already. Inline six engines are much rarer.
Good luck with the search.
