    We have been discussing this on the VCVC site for quite awhile now. It could be very doable, if we could possibly get this outfit to see if their current setup for early pickups could be modified to fit our straight axel setups? I'm "Reposting" this statement for a friend on VCVC, hopefully one of you Cali guys can come to our aid?

    I'm on the war path with this one.
    Even thought I have all the stuff to put the integral steering box into my van I like others prefer the power assist type.

    I think we are getting places, Please visit the post on VCVC and help out with the requests.

    I have never seen an A 100 steering but what we are doing here may lead to A 100 power steering. If you A guys check the "Tech Info" link at the CCP site and look at all the posabilities you may come up with something that works. Or at least a starting ppoint.

    Nate...from what I understand, the 67 A100 was the only that actually had PS as an option? I saw that guy from Cali that sells parts on E-Bay had one quite awhile ago for a buy-it-now feature?

    69 and 70 only with 318 had p/s. It was the power assist type. My old 69 A108 Family Wagon had p/s. It leaked like a seive but worked.

    Nate...Have you any additional pics possibly of that Power Assist set up? The guys on VCVC are hot on this for their Rigs! Possibly to get CCP to assist in the manufacture of a setup?

    Don...That's the fellow that went by "ISOHORNY11" a few years back on the VCVC forum! I remember the posts of this! Can't seem to locate them now? If I remember correctly...he had like a "Slip Fit Spring" setup on the drag link for the diverter valve? I never thought that was very safe??? I believe you and I discussed this at one time? I acquired the same parts years ago to possibly go this route myself, but my first concern is the "Safety Aspect!"

    He has been using it for about 7 years now,,,,,,He will NEVER go back to manual steering,,,,,His way was to cut the drag link and put the control valve between the 2 pieces,,,,,,,I would think cutting off the ball joint at the steering knuckle on the drag link, threading it and screwing the control valve on it would be a stronger way to do it,,,,,,,but the thing is,,,,,,put ideas out there,,,,,there is always someone that will come out with a better idea to improve on it,,,,,,,,,

    Rollie...I used to have the actual supplement to the service manual that covered the p/s system, but it went with the parts when I sold them. If you would like, I can possibly get you a copy from Brian Bowie.

    Don...I still cannot ever believe that setup? It cracks me up to think someone actually can drive such a setup??? lol That would definitely be good with Funniest Videos for sure!! Just get the look of the guy first attempting to drive it!!!! lol Smile Better yet....park it in a "High Crime" neighborhood and get the guys reaction, when he tries to steal it and drive it away!!!! lol

    The guy really built it with his one arm,,,,,,and when he put it in, since the pitman arm on the Astro was on the right side, the van turned in the opposite direction of the steering wheel when he mounted the gearbox with the pitman arm on the left in the van. So no problem, he just cut the shaft and put gears on both ends to reverse the direction and it all comes out right,,,,,,,

    Everybody has an idea and when someone sees it, it can put ideas in their head too,,,,,it has to start somewhere,,,,,,,On a 1st gen, putting the control valve right at the pitman arm, would probably hit the left front turn signal wires when you turned right. But if it was on the steering knuckle,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

    Yes...this is Joyride (from VCVC) here in Ohio, we are currently working on trying to get CCP in Aneheim to try and redesign their kits to apply to our styled steering! John thought if he placed all the current info in a website...we all would place info in to aid in the effort!!!
