    SUICIDE KNOBS Empty SUICIDE KNOBS

Post by Lazarusvan Sat Oct 08, 2011 5:58 pm

We were looking into getting a suicide knob for the van to assist in low speed maneuvers. The Boss found a bunch of info from people saying these break off, cause wrecks and personal injury. They also mentioned getting tickets, which is a low concern. Also read that your insurance company can deny a claim if you are in a wreck? Anyone have any experience?

If so, any type you've used that won't break?

You can only use them here in VA if you have a permit. My uncle has one as he had a stroke over 6 years ago and his left side is not as it was before. The doctor signed paper work for him to use it legally.

Whats the problem using them? Used them on every non ps car / truck I have ever had and never had a problem. Why would there be a issue with something that helps you steer better / eaiser?

I think the biggest problem wasn't breaking ,but letting the wheel free spin back the knobs can knock the crap out of your wrists and such. I have them on tractors ,, never had one on a car/truck.

I remember going to Pep Boys with my dad when I was a kid and they had a huge selection of "brodie knobs on display. I loved that display because about 25% of them had pictures of naked ladies in them.

I only fly airplanes with a stick. I should inlay a picture in the top of the stick with a stratigicaly placed push to talk button.

I like using a Brody Knob but you do have to be careful which one you buy because the cheap ones will break and if you are making a hard turn when it breaks you could have problems. Get one made for a tractor. There are a lot of them on ebay.

cant have them in pa. either. if your in a wreck, it could puncture your chest. that being said, i have been considering getting one anyway. dont know if pa will allow with doctors approval but will check it out.

Is it illegal to just have them attatched or do you have to be seen using it. I have one on but never use it.

This is a funny thread, I would have never dreamed that something like that would be "illegal", whatever, thats what we need more rules and regulations to keep us from hurting ourselves...

Skip the ones on eBay as they are listed as decoration only. I bought a functional one from an auto store out west that had an online store.

I had a suicide knob and fuzzy dice in my Chevy HHR before I sold it. The Michigan cops never gave me any hassle.

most of the ones on ebay are for decoration only but some are not. Some sellers differentiate between the two. I have bought three on ebay that are functional. They generally are over $20.00.
