I went by train from LA to Sacramento and back last week. After staring out the window all those miles I can say I only saw one early, a Ford. I did not have my camera ready to snap a photo but I saw it. I must say these van we own are indeed very rare are are worth of a "I seen a VAN" post.

Very Happy OK, now I am stoked, picked up a 67 extended Falcon van with a 240 and automatic with nice original seats, drove 900 miles round trip to get it too. (230.00 in fuel) will get pics up asap!!

The Dodge headlight rings are worth getting, they're only held on with 3 screws. I wish I could have all of it! It's so sad to look at this kinda stuff.

When you guys strip a van you Really strip it. That front corner for Vanagain's green Sportvan?? If your switching out side or back door and are scraping old ones, I could use some CA rust free door bottoms

Yes, we had another enjoyable day at the junkyard! Bittersweet, really. On one hand I love rescuing all the goodies of a junker, but on the other, it's so sad to see a pretty nice van heading for the crusher. This one was a California van, barely a spot of rust on it, from the roof to the undercarriage. The only real rust was the usual under the front floor mat. It did have a crunched rear quarterpanel and a couple dings but it would have been pure gold to you midwesterners...

I hadn't planned on cutting off the front corner of the van. I had brought tin snips and a hacksaw to help 64Chevy cut out the grill. And once I got going, I said, "I bet I can do this all with hand tools!" I did need Don to take over for me a couple times when I got exhausted! He was an especially good sport considering he'd already removed a similar piece from CrashVan. But this one was in even better shape.

Hey, if any of you Californians need a new roof, they said we could cut it off if we brought battery saws-alls. This would be a good way to repair that roof damage from the coastal salt air.

All 3 of you must of worked hard to get the grill & corner off with just a hacksaw & tin snips?? Getting the column and shifter parts out isn't real easy ether. If you could find some door bottoms that would be great. Very Happy

Actually the tin snips did a good fast job on the flat sections,,,,,The other yard won't let you bring in Sawzalls,,,,,but after we cut all this stuff off by hand, a yard worker said its OK to bring in power tools. 64Chevy guy took the recessed license plate area out of a 3rd gen,,,,,so he may be on to something. And when I told him that the 66 trans was a synchro,,,,,he had to have it,,,,,,we usually ignore window side doors,,,,,,,,but I guess we can grab some just for the bottoms, which probably is the most valuable part on the doors......

Not too bad looking considering it's over 40 years old. Seems to be a driver too. Did you talk to the owner?
