Window regulator install

Post by rfergnes on Fri May 25, 2018 8:12 pm

Trying to install new window regulator on drivers side. The holes on the regulator don't line up with the pre-drilled holes on the door panel. The part is supposed to fit in a '65. Does anyone know if there is a video or something that can walk me through this? Also, should is there a way to find cheap felt? $125 bucks seems a little steep. Thanks.

Couldn't figure out how to post an actual picture but if you can follow the link you'll see the part. I'm pretty sure I ordered the wrong one.

I was really hoping there was a video on You Tube that showed how to replace the regulator.

Our vans are G10 models ,,,,,,those C10, K10 and suburbans as well as Step Vans are different,,,,,but basically you take the handles and the door panel and the 4 screws off and the regulator comes loose,,,,,,however,,,,,,,the vent window frame is in the way,,,,,so,,,,,,,,have you tied to take it out?

Regulators

For what it is worth, van 2nd gen do fit - I pulled out of mine.

I did neglect to note that it used a 2nd gen window crank.

There wasn't a regulator in the door when I bought the van (The window was being held up by a piece of 2 x 4 wedged in the opening.) On the replacement regulator I purchased the mounting holes for the four screws don't line up with holes in the door. I'm not sure if the side vent frame is in the way since I quit when I noticed the holes didn't line up. Im a little hesitant to drill new holes in the door to mount the replacement since I'm not sure if will even work once I mount it.

I've ordered this part from Parts Geek and a wiper switch from Classic Trucks. Both sites said the parts would fit but they don't. Is there a better place to get parts? I looks like I need felt as well...

That pick up regulator wont work,,,,,ours use 1 roller to raise the glass,,,,,,and a 2nd gen takes a different type of handle,,,,,,and you need to loosen up the vent glass frame because it stops the handle shaft from coming out,,,,,

Window hardware install

Just in case one of your original questions remain un-answered:
Hardware install order:

1) Window regulator
2) Vent window
3) Large glass
4) Window track.
