New Door Hinges? Empty New Door Hinges?

    Post by DGregory65 Wed Aug 30, 2017 8:15 pm

Does anyone know of a supplier for new door hinges for these vans? I have all of my originals but don't know if they will be worth saving vs just buying new ones. Seems like finding parts for my van was going to be harder than I thought Shocked

Welcome to VV! I don't think there is a manufacturer for new hinges. Several people on here sell old ones that are in good shape and useable. Bad thing is that it's not a bolt in swap out. They bolt to the van, but the hinges are riveted to the door. I have one bad one on mine and one day I'm just going to install a oversized hinge pin in it. Luckily for now, it's the back left door which I don't use much. Do you have a lot of play in yours?

Are the hinges really bad or are the pins just loose? As mentioned you can rehab them with oversize pins.

I don't think that the pins are bad but they may just be caked in rust which prevents me from telling how much play they have in them. The whole hinges are rusted and I'm afraid that if I sandblast or media blast them that there won't be anything left. I was looking for the new hinges to see if any were made and if so would they be cheaper vs having to blast and repair the old ones.

NO SUCH THING unless you are lucky enough to purchase NOS. NOS means NEW OLD STOCK,, IE:  not available... LOL
In addition to that, they are riveted in place and not an easy job to replace as special flat head bolts are used.
BTW,,,,,,,,,, THIS AN OLD subject but are you familiar of how to adjust your doors,, I have posted a few times of how to do it correctly???? It involves disassembling the hinges anyways....
