Anti Sway Bars Empty Anti Sway Bars

Post by nwguy Fri Jun 30, 2017 1:39 pm

I ordered front and rear anti sway bars from Glenn Rissberger in Oregon from my 1962 epup. He just called me with a question. He's starting to make them today, and wants to know if there's any difference between first generation epups like mine vs. late 60s epups that would affect their design. He's got plans or specs for the later years versions, and he knows he's made them for earlier years' versions, but apparently he's misplaced his specs on generation 1 dimensions. So anyone know if there'd be a difference between early 60s sway bars and late 60s?

The 65-67 sway bars can go on 61-67's but the 61-64 sway bars can only go on 61-64's unless you move the brake line or something along those lines. The 68 and on are different. I hope he finds his patterns b/c I am planning on ordering a pair from him as well.

Here is a pic of the ones he made for EconoCobra, 1 1/8" front, 1" rear:

He called me back and told me he found his files for the 62-67 version. This includes pickups. I should get mine in a couple of weeks.

When you say you have to move the brake lines, which lines need moving? What specifically do you mean by moving them? Do you have to fabricate new ones? Can the old ones be moved, re-bent without draining/bleeding the system?

    I don't know, but it shouldn't be a problem for you b/c your truck is a 62

That's great to hear that he has found them.

What improvements could one expect by installing these?

At that price, is the juice worth the squeeze ???

I recently installed just a rear sway bar and to be honest, I didn't notice a difference at all.. I read somewhere that the front will make a much bigger difference but I couldn't pass up the deal on someone selling a new/used one for the rear so I bought it and installed it.. After I do my disc brake conversion I plan on putting one in front too..
