2nd Gen doghouses... Empty 2nd Gen doghouses...

Post by RipVanArkie on Tue May 09, 2017 1:34 pm

Hey guys, been a long time. I'm helping a buddy put a 350 in a 64. We have a 2nd gen doghouse with no radiator at all to work with. First, is the rad mount the only difference in the doghouse? Second, if all I can come up with is the mount for the 6 radiator, is there a radiator that will fit and cool the 350?

Thanks in advance!

Rip, Good to see you back on here, and still working on Earlys You still have any???
The 2nd gen DH is wider at bottom to handle V 8 heads(& getting to plugs) lids a little longer, uses a different E brake lever.
Tom(Millwright 71) used a Alum double pass radiator, with puller fans& shroud worked great.
I'm sure some body else will post what they used also.
Post some pics of your buddy s Van

Look at my page 2 on members vans.

I used a later doghouse and tried to use the stock rad mount but found the rad sat too far from the fan.

Then I cut some aluminum angle to make brackets bolted into the stock mounting holes which set the rad closer to the fan and fit into the doghouse well.
