Looking for sources or options for the bearing at the top of the steering column, mines a little notchy. Steer & Gear is rebuilding my box and this bearing is the last piece that needs replacing. Anyone?

Re: Steering Column Top Bearing
A May 1969 Dodge parts book list the top bearing as part number 1828911. I would think that if you took the bearing to your local bearing supply company. That they could match it up. Or call a dealer , and check the part number...might get lucky.

Did you ever find a source for the bearing? I need one also and the only thing that I can find is NOS from Mopar Mall for $158. Currently I can't even find one on eBay.
Thanks...Keith D.

If you know the ID and OD of the bearing, look online at McMaster-Carr. They’re an industrial supply house and have a lot of different sized bearings. I’ve also bought a lot of different sized rubber grommets from them for various car projects.

Re: Steering Column Top Bearing
It's a special bearing, not common, as I recall, I disassembled the whole column, cleaned it , lubed etc and all is fine.,

Re: Steering Column Top Bearing
Yea can you believe someone wants that kind of money for a bearing.
I just finished taking care of my old one. Before it was sticky when you turned it by hand. It felt like it was sticking on each ball bearing.
I left mine in the column, I sprayed it real good a couple of times with brake cleaner, scrubbed it with a old tooth brush, and packed it with grease. It is now turns smooth as silk.

Re: Steering Column Top Bearing
I think I did as KeithD, never removed it, but cleaned good and packed with grease. Smooth now.
