    1965 Van
I took my dog house etc all apart along with some of the wiring.
I have my solenoid with one wire going to the starter on one side and then the other side has one going to a harness wire but I am not sure where another wire which I thought went to my block? not sure where it goes but the same wire going to my solenoid meters on the other end of this that is within my harness?
    lost???

Are you talking about the little screws? The key turns the relay on and as the starter cranks, another wire goes up to the coil to boost the voltage to it,,,

I am talking about the larger bolts sticking out opposite of eachother, not the side that the cable goes to the starter but the other side where one goes to positive on the battery but then there is a second eye'd wire that takes off into a harness, at one section of that harness towards front of engine there is a large eye lead and it looks like it hooked to a bolt on the block but it cant because of the positive battery connection, where does that front wire go?

If I am understanding you, I believe that wire is where your van picks up the power for ignition, lights etc? Probably runs to fuse block. (Or in E vans, the fuse block built into the light switch.  A bad idea to my thinking.) Oh yeah, it also should run to the alternator/voltage regulator.

Here's the wiring diagram for a '65. Perhaps it will help. One side goes to starter. On the other, you have battery, alternator and power to the ignition switch. The wire you reference may attach to the back of the alternator. Or it could be a ground strap. Use a multimeter to check if it goes to ground or to the starter solenoid.

yes, that is the wire I am talking about. it has a little heavier duty eye that mounts to that side of the solenoid and then it heads down and is wrapped in tape with the rest of the loom and heads up to the front of the motor and mounts to a grounding bolt just above the oil filter.
I am thinking that these old wires may be compromised and hitting others but it just makes no sense that the wire coming from the positive side of solenoid was ground to the engine??? I did take it all apart but very confused now with it going back together where this lead went?

If you are sure that one end of the wire is bolted to the engine, then it is a ground wire,,,,,the other end can be bolted to the frame or one of the bolts that hold the relay to the doghouse,,,,

so I went ahead and unraveled all the harness tape and yes indeed did find that the wire I thought was heading south to the solenoid actually wasn't the same wire and that one headed north and yes sir, was factory screwed in the body gusset.
So now what I have is a single eyelet containing a small and larger yellow wire that head all the way up to the regulator and I will now bolt my 3rd wire on there which will be my positive battery cable and then all should be good and mystery solved with a little unraveling of tape and your help, correct?
