gas tank strap pads

installing new tank and the old tar paper pads between the straps and tank are pretty shot. what are people using instead?

Strip of thin black vinyl carpet runner from Lowes....anything close will do....!

Strips cut from rubber floor mats, seatbelt fabric (shoulder straps)...... I like the old inner-tube idea!

I have stainless to go back on next tank change. Just planned to use strips of that segmented packing tape. Don't know what it;s called--the stuff with the long fibers you can see in the tape. Pretty indestructable.

I used nothing but good paint on the tank.

If you are going to use something , use something that does not soak and hold water or you will be creating a battery and will end up with corrosion holes.
