Need source for motor mounts Empty Need source for motor mounts

    Post by jrdunn96 Tue Oct 18, 2016 3:55 am

Hi, I'm Jim.  I'm a vanaholic.  I have a '65 Epup.  It came from the factory with a 170.  Sometime in it's early life, it had a 200 transplant.  When I got hold of it the 200 was stuck.  In a fit of poor judgement, I decided to rebuild it myself.  That has been a journey in itself.  It is more or less complete now(with the exception of a 6.125"od harmonic balancer where is previously had a 5.875"od. Yes it does seem to matter.)  My current delimma:  I need a source for motor mounts.  I have an old Ford Truck parts manual on CD. It lists C5UZ 6038-A.  I looked for them on Rock Auto, C&G, Mac's and even tried Google & Yahoo.  I haven't had any luck.  I don't think you guys are running around on 50 year old motor mounts.  Are there others that will work?  My parts manual lists C4UZ 6038-A & B for the '64 170 with auto trans.  Replacements for these seem to be plentiful as they were used in Mustangs too.  I only mention them because they look very similar in the picture.  Please help!

Jr, did you check with Vic to see if he has some that would work in your situation? His member name is Old Skool if you want to PM him. He's a very busy guy but he is the authority on anything Econoline!!!

Also, if you post this request in the E Parts wanted section, there are a few other members who carry Econoline parts, Tim - EconoUSAparts and Bruce67Econoline are two others who are great parts sources as well.

Good luck and be sure to post some pics of your work, Please and Thank You!
    Good luck

Those motor mounts are available at any auto parts store fairly cheap. Be aware that they may not come right up when queried, but they are available and it involves either them getting out the book and looking at the pictures(that's how we got the #) or going through the computer and looking at the pictures at the store. Me and Tice went through this when we found one of his had completely delaminated, and we got the mfr and # but I don't have it or remember now what it is. Otherwise they are available from Macs, but at a higher cost. The 170 and 200 use the same mounts, the only difference when it comes to our vans is the year of the van. 61-64 use a different mount than 65-67. Good luck!

Ok I just looked on rock auto, it is the ANCHOR 2225 and 2226 mounts Smile What we found is they are a little different in appearance than the oems, but functionally identical.

    Seth,
Do you think Tice would still have the info?  I could PM him.  The Ford p/n didn't get me anything at O'Reilys, Autozone or Mac's.  Maybe I don't have the right p/n.  The problem with picture is that the mounts from a 1964 170 with auto trans looks just like it.  It does call for a different part number for right and left?  I'm more than a little confused.
    Thanks,
    Jim

PS. I was typing while you posted. I think those p/n are the ones for the '64 with auto trans, but I'm not sure. Will check.

Those are the ones, they changed them in 65 when they added the crossmember. For whatever reason, like many other parts(clutch comes to mind) they don't come up or don't come up correctly. The 64 and earlier mounts are right angle mounts.

Btw, any odd parts and issues like the balancer, fordsix forums are great for getting those parts if you can't find them locally

    Good luck JR

    Seth,
Thank you! Did you use one of each? If they worked on Tice's '66 they should work on my '65. I'll get them ordered.

Yeah both, if ones bad... you know. They couldn't get them as quickly at the good local parts store, Piston Service, but Oreilly's got them here the next day once we gave them the part #'s from the first place. But if he wouldn't have gotten the book out at piston service and gone through the trouble we would have been s o l b/c they couldn't find them at oreilly's until we got out the numbers, luckily we wrote them down.
