Twinpilot001

Post by vanny on Tue Aug 02, 2016 3:59 am

It is with a heavy heart that I announce the loss of another site member and true Vanner. I hadn't seen any responses from Matt on this site so I sent a private message to him last week. This morning, his wife, Freche responded to the message and told me that Matt had a massive heart attack on June 5th and passed. I know that Matt helped many on this site with questions about their vans. He was very knowledgeable and was very willing to pass that on to people here. Although I never met him, he made me feel like a friend and for that, I'm eternally grateful.

Matt had the true Vanner spirit which all of us here share. It's this passion for these vans that makes us like a family. I know that Matt is probably up there with Chris (G-Man) talking about the Fun they had working on their vans and the many friends they left behind to carry on their legacy. I told his wife that he will truly be missed here. She said he had put the engine and tranny back in his 2nd Gen and I told her that if she wanted me to list it here, to send me the information, pictures and contact info.

Once again we have lost a friend and fellow Vanner. As Matt always said, "Keep on Vannin" !!! Sad

It makes me sad that Twin passed on. I liked his wit and wish that i could have met him. This past april i had been experiencing chest pains that landed me in the VA hospital in Iowa City and i found out that i had a heart attack. It made me more determined to finish my van so i can drive it around and maybe meet some of you guys at van gatherings.

I bought my van from Matt. I will remember him for his generosity, kindness and always taking the extra time to help me, on more than one occasion, to go to the DMV and deal with the transport company for close to a year before I got the van across the border. I am saddened by the loss to this community and that he will not see my van completed, he was very excited a young enthusiast bought one of his vans and looked forward to its completion.

Rest easy Matt.

This is sad news. He was a constant presence here on the site, even when things were slow. Offering help, good wit and spirit. I'll miss him

Sorry to hear about Matt's passing. Although I didn't always understand his posts with all the symbols, it was usually interesting. I always wondered what his van looked like, I don't think he ever talked about it or posted any pictures while I've been a member here.

Sad to hear this, I only traded a few messages with him but he seemed pretty cool. He had me looking at Washington when I was looking to move from Texas.

That just makes me sick. I hadn't seen any posts from him either and was wondering what had happened. Thank you Vanny for checking in on him, that's very thoughtful of you.

I always appreciated reading his posts, and was grateful for the few PMs we shared, and appreciated his willingness to help. How cool was his last avatar!

Bless you Matt, and your family.
