Re: Coop's new old van
Ok so I have been slacking on the pics will try and post some this week of some of the work I've done to the van so far.
1. I now have turn signals. One of the POs must have stripped the screw that holds the lever to the switch so he just glued it in and the last PO broke the whole thing off. At least he kept the lever and sent it with the van. I got a new switch and it's working good.
2.Oh my god one of the POs had no business playing with wires must be 30 to 40 splices under this dash. Like all he had for wiring was a bunch of very short pieces of wire of different gauges to work with and bad crimping job to boot. He would have been better off just not touching it. No wonder only 2 out of 6 gauges worked and it wasn't the oil gauge that line to the block was busted off and the oil was just aloud to piss out of the port where the line should be Just glad he didn't attempt to hook up the new dolphin gauges he put in the dash. I was a little upset to find he didn't even give the last owner the sending units or anything for the new gauges, not even the 6 pin plug was in the back of the quad gauge Well I got them from the Co. and wired them up really nice and cleaned up a lot of the mess under the dash. I spent a day on this and I'm still not done. I'm taking my time and doing it rite all new wiring the rite gauge and soldering all my conections and now even my turn signal lights on the dash work
3. I installed some new weather stripping on the side door that the PO sent with the van. It is holding up well so far

Re: Coop's new old van
Nice van! Wonder if the PO with the wiring "expertise" was repairing the "Auto Ammeter Delete" feature so many of these vans have had? my Under dash harness was melted together into a blob.

Thanks, and they sure do. Not that I don't have a s-load of other things I should be doing(like working on the house) but it's good to make a little time to do something I enjoy doing. Even if it's not as much as I'd like This is going to take me a good bit of time and $ to get it where I want it. So stick with me and I will keep you all posted and thank you all for your kind words and help I will post some pics as soon as I can find out how to get the pics from my old ass crappy phone to my computer

Re: Coop's new old van
I love that color. Great looking van. Sounds like your doing a good job with the re-wiring. It can be a pain sometimes. I need to go through my van's wiring and redo a bunch of it, especially the tail lights and backup lights.

What I've been up too
Sorry that I haven't been around for a bit. On a sad note my engine blew a rod on the way home from the 42nd Nats . Lucky for me I had another 250ci I6 sitting in the back of my shop that I took out of my Nova 12 years ago with 103k on it. It ran good in the car but I figure that I should give it a rebuild before putting it in the van. I also scored a 4L60E that will be going in her as well. Other things I am doing/done over the last year. The P.O. lowered the van way to much for NY at least and she drove like crap. The front springs were just about riding on the rubber stoppers and the rear was not far off either. I scored a set of G20 springs off Kooky. He sent me the front ones before my trip to the Nats so I could strip them down, clean them up, paint them, and install all new bushing. So while I had it on the lift I also did the kingpins, tie rod ends, drag link, the sway bar bushings, and end links. KK sent the rear ones with someone to the Nats for me to pick up. Lets see if I can post some pics.
The engine from the Nova.
2 speed PG out
Engine out
Damage from the rod
The two engines in the shop
stripped them down to short blocks
Put her to bed for the night with a friend.
