heavy duty 300 Empty heavy duty 300

Got a local guy selling a 300 six motor and trans out of a 69 F600, and it includes the "heavy duty" exhaust manifold on those big trucks. I really called him to see if he would sell the exhaust manifold by itself, since they supposedly flow much better than the standard, but he wants to sell the whole package together. He claims the motor runs good and I can hear it before it's pulled.

So, I have a good 240 in my E-pup right now, and no real complaints. Is it worth the gamble to buy the package and swap it in? Would I see good bang for the minor bucks involved? I'd be getting the stronger 300 ci "industrial" motor, but would probably keep my 3.03 trans.

    Thoughts?

Seller said it has a four speed granny tranny. Some of the heavy duty 300s are said to have a forged crank. I doubt he knows if this one does. Tempting...

Definitely get the 300. Bullet proof motor with extra horsepower. And they can be built up to get close to 400 horsepower. Lot of money to do that though. But definitely get that 300.
