Can't wait to see it painted! Will it be something conservative or something crazy?

Finally Robin and I both drove the van. Duane did a great job on the tune up, it runs great! It was quite exiting to drive it for the first time!

Next to that we started cutting away the old weatherstrips so we can replace those. And we went out to get some donuts for breakfast and bbq for lunch. The Econoline family here is taking good care of us!

Sure was! Today was the third day of sanding. Tomorrow last details, so it is ready for primer. And Duane did a lot of stuff, sandblasting wheels and parts. Looking very much forward to get some paint on that van!

Time for an update. Here at the Econoranch we have been busy working on the Supervan, collecting parts and supplies and also having some fun when not working.

The van now has it's new coat of white paint, ready to be build up again. Here are photos of the 4 stages:

We painted it in my friends garage. It's not perfect but I wanted to get some paint on it to protect it during it's trip overseas. I was afraid of it traveling all that time at sea with just a primer coat so we sanded it down and shot some cheap paint to help protect the metal. 6 weeks at sea can be harsh. Now we have to put it all back together. It's getting all new rubber, from the tires to the vent windows. Even new wiper blades. Thijs is going to build a custom camping interior for the trip west. They plan on sleeping in it along the way. We have a ton of work to do before they can begin the rest of their trip. After killing it for the last week we took today off and went to a birthday party and a AA baseball game.

More progress, put a floor in and put wall and door panels in. Here's some pics of the floor and insulation. There will be vinyl on top of it.

Tice is on the road now and heading west. He's been having some over heating issues and has been working of getting that better. When we drove around here it was empty and the local temp was much lower. Now the van is carrying a heavy load and the temps have gone up a bunch. Guess it's putting a strain on the cooling system. When I talked to him today he was looking at a new radiator to help keep it cool.

Did the van have a belly pan?

Hopefully all goes well for them. It's getting hot here in Arizona and unfortunately I won't be here to give any help if needed. I'm leaving for 2 weeks vacation this Saturday.

Yup, we got some cooling problems, bit still able to drive when taking it easy. Put a new fuel pump because I found out fuel pressure was low.

Right now at Oklahoma City. We are going to a nice park where we can stay for a few days and have a new radiator delivered there. Hope that will solve the hot temp issue, before we go to the hotter climate.

I think I'm going to be going pretty much the same route that Donivan did just recently. Going Hwy 40 to Hwy 44 In Oklahoma, then to Hwy 55 in St.Louis...then some other roads until getting to Caseville Michigan. Leaving Saturday the 4th and coming back around the 15th.
