    Hello All! I have been poking around on the site for a long time but my posts have been on vcvc. I have a problem that I am looking for help on and have not found the answer so far. I am looking to put the clutch pedal back in my 66 g10. It had an auto when I got it with no clurch pedal or any of the assembly. I have a pedal from a parts van that appears to be too long. It is common opinion so far that the clutch is the same on 1st and 2nd gens. I hope the pictures come through showing that the pedal is too short. I had some issues with the hosting picture thing.. The pedal that I have is 12-5/8" and you can see the white mark on the pedal showing the length that I need. 11-1/2" from the center of the shaft that goes throught the frame to the center of the shaft that goes through the floor. Any help/info/parts would be awesome. I am pretty close to cutting the pedal and welding the end on where I need it but I would rather not.

    Swami Donivan will have the answer shortly.....pics look fine...I think you meant "too long" in that second sentence?? Its the lever below the floor that's too long, not the actual pedal "post" that goes through the floor for lack of a better term?? You sure the pivot shaft is mounted in the correct location? this may have varied year to year or between 90's and 108's?, are there any other holes on the frame?  The distance you are too long looks like 1/2 the distance between the bracket mounting holes?? Maybe flip the bracket and see if you need another hole, but then see how long the rod is at the tranny Z bar end is, that might give you a clue as to where the front pivot rod is supposed to mount.  They did change trannies from the early 64 and mid 65's GM's from the 4 bolt to six bolt side cover Sag's and then to another type on the 2nd gens so maybe they moved the pivot rod locations depending on where the trans levers where on the side of those different trannies and that would account for your longer length in the front, also whether or not the donor van had a six or V8 originally may have used different mount locations too, I'd look into all of those factors....the lever is probably the same or maybe they did use different ones in 2nd gens but the whole clutch set up has to match the engine and tranny for any given year, again, Doni will know!

    1st,,,,put down where in the 1000 miles of California you are at,,,,,,,,
    the brake pedal is the same size  as a clutch pedal,  so you can see what you need for a clutch pedal to work,,,,,,,,and the 11 1/2" is correct,,,,,,you might be able to just heat it and kind of put a loop in that long one to get it to go through the floor,,,,,,,,if,,,,,,,,the shaft and inner lever fit correctly through the frame,,,,,

    1st Gen and 2nd Gen are different. You have a 2nd Gen there. My 1st Gen parts van has what you need. Bring your tools and take a short trip down the coast and you can have it for pulling it.

    That explains it! So if the floor stamping is the same, then they moved the mount and pivot bar back for some reason making the lever arm longer, I'd guess the newer trannies needed it.

    This also falls into the reality that there are very few parts on a 2nd gen that will work on a 1st gen as a bolt in.
