    Dual master Empty Dual master

Post by slik Thu Jul 09, 2015 10:54 am

I'm replacing my whole break line and turning my single cylinder into a double cylinder.
I have a 1966 Dodge a 100 which came stock the single cylinder master. What would I do to purchase a dual master? Can anyone steer me in the right direction on the part?
    Thanks

,,,now lets see what the Dodge guys say about installing it,,,,,,,,on my Chevys, I need to cut part of the bracket to put that longer master cylinder in it,,,,,,,,,but thats the best thing you can do,,,get rid of that suicide 1 line and put in a 2 line,,,,,change the old brake lines and hoses while you are at it,,,,,,

Yeah thx. I'm going with nickel copper lines. Replacing everything. My lines are rusted and brittle. I was wondering a dual would fit it if I'd have to cut to make room. But that's what I'm doing. I'm going to upgrade to dual. Can't afford a disc upgrade so sticking w drums.

Also has anyone ever cut an access hole under there seat? I think the master is under the drivers seat. Why not cut a good looking access area out. Sure would make working on cylinder a piece of cake in the future and the access hole would be hidden by the seat. Of course with a cool cover on it.

you dont have to on a chevy,,,,,there is enough room to put your hand down there, to unsnap and remove the cover, every 3 years when you get around to checking the fluid level,,,,

I have a 69 A100 that needed a new master. Being that it was already a 2 line system was a easy swap. Just get yourself a  67-69 master cylinder and marry it up. Just a FYI, I got mine at NAPA and the one they gave me wouldn't fit, I would have to cut, plus it looked a lot different. It took a couple try's to get the right one but finally got it. In other words, you shouldn't have to cut a thing if you get the right part!

Ok great!  Does anyone have a pic or a link to the exact replacement for that year dual master?  Then I could match it up before I buy.

    Dual master 20150311

Sorry that the picture is the wrong way,im posting this from my phone cant rotate it
This is how i ended up doing mine.
You have to make the hole a lot bigger than what it is to make the mc to fit.
I reinforced the construction with flat metal.

So he wont be needing that proportioning valve,,,,,,,,how long is that master cylinder,,,,,,and he will probably have to invent some kind of brake light switch to install a dual line master cylinder in his single line system,,,,,,,,

I used the old brake light pressure sensor. I installed it in the old junction that divided the front and the back when it was single system

Thanks all. I was wondering if the 67s on had been different that allowed more room for the new cylinder. I'm just gonna order the part n go from there. I'll post pix in my thread in general discussions a vans

Maybe 69A100 could post a pic of his since he said he didn't have to alter anything. If there's something that works with no or "minor" alterations, that would be the route I'd take! JMTC! Very Happy

I have the one on the right, I got it a NAPA. I couldn't find it on their site, that's why this one is here. If I remember right, the one on the left has a height issue against the floor with the raised top. Think of a low profile height master cylinder and you'll win. Good Luck
