Post by SpiderVan88 on Thu Jul 02, 2015 4:21 pm

This is my new daily driver project. It's a 1967 Chevy G20 with a 283 V8 and a 3 on the tree manual.

Welcome aboard, once you've got the posting pics things down, post a few. If there's no pics, it never happened. LOL! If you need help posting, just ask or search using the search tab above because there are many discussions on how to post pics...Once you've done it a couple of times, it's not so bad. Very Happy

Here's one you might find handy: http://vintage-vans.forumotion.com/t119-posting-pictures-using-forum-s-servimg?highlight=posting

So the van was missing the passenger side brake drum a most of the related parts. Apparently the front drums for a G20 are NOT available!
After much research we where able to find a match that will work. The rear drum from a mid 70's K10. New shoes, new hardware and some Mustang parts I had, my son was able to put it all together!!!
He used the self adjuster from a Mustang (front drums that were replaced with disc), he was able to clean up the wheel cylinder and get the bleeder open.
Replaced the master cylinder, some of the hard lines and rubber lines too.

original drum on left:

a G20 is something rare around here,,,,,,99.9% are G10's,,,,,but I would say you should of had self adjusters like the rest of us have,,,,,,but,,,,,,you got to keep the brakes manually adjusted if you don't have the activators on it,,,,,,

I'm sure it was supposed to have them too but it was missing on both sides. Might be able to piece together parts for them from a K10 also since most everything else we have made work is for K10 rear drum brakes!
